As per past year trends, the results are typically declared within 20 to 48 days after the exam. This year, the exam was held on April 28, and based on previous timelines, the result was expected in late May or early June. However, the delay has continued into July.
According to a report by Times Now, the results are currently on hold due to the Calcutta High Court’s interim stay on the revised OBC reservation list, which will remain in effect until July 31.
The situation has left students in a state of confusion, especially those who appeared for both WBJEE and JEE Main. As the JoSAA counselling process for IITs and NITs is already underway, candidates are now caught in a dilemma over whether to confirm seats at central institutes or wait for WBJEE results.
“Students fear that they might lose their seats in IITs and NITs if WBJEE results are not announced anytime soon,” Times Now reported. “On the other hand, if they lock seats elsewhere, they will lose the chance to gain admission to Jadavpur University.”
This is especially significant for students from financially weaker backgrounds, as Jadavpur University (JU) offers quality education at comparatively lower fees.Even faculty members are raising concerns. The Jadavpur University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) has now demanded that the WBJEE 2025 results be declared without further delay. “They fear a loss of talent, as students will ultimately choose IITs/NITs due to the uncertain postponement of the WBJEE outcome,” the report added.In the meantime, students have taken to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration, share pleas, and demand clarity from authorities.
When to expect WBJEE 2025 result?
As per Times Now, the WBJEE results are delayed as a result of the Calcutta High Court’s stay on the revised OBC list in place till July 31. Once the legal clarity is received, WBJEEB is expected to proceed with the declaration of category-wise ranks and overall merit lists.
