During the recent government recruitment campaign, the railways stood out by consistently leading in the distribution of appointment letters. Vaishnaw emphasized that the recruitment of ALPs is just the beginning, with more employment opportunities expected to open up in technical and non-technical categories as well as Group D positions.
“This is the first step. There will be more employment opportunities in technical, non-technical popular categories and also in group D. Instead of bunching everything together, our objective is to have an annual process so that more people can get this opportunity,” he added.
Meanwhile, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that railway recruitment will become an annual occurrence, offering increased job opportunities for young individuals.
Unlike some other government institutions, the railways no longer follows a mandatory recruitment calendar, issuing advertisements for recruitment based on current needs. The minister highlighted the completion of the hiring process for 1.5 lakh new employees and the initiation of the selection process for assistant loco pilots (ALPs).
Vaishnaw emphasized that this is the initial step, with more employment opportunities expected in technical and non-technical popular categories, as well as Group D posts. The Railway Recruitment Board has released a notification for the recruitment of 5,696 ALP posts, with the application period running from January 20 to February 19.
