Details have emerged of a Hawaiian Airlines Airbus A321neo from Seattle that overran the runway at Kahului, Hawaii yesterday.
Information has been released pertinent to the incident at hand, which we will get into in this article.

Hawaiian Airlines Flight HA29 – Seattle to Kahului…
Hawaiian Airlines flight HA29, which overran the runway, is a routine scheduled flight between Seattle and Kahului.
Also, it is understood the aircraft involved in the incident is N227HA.
As per data from Planespotters.net, N227HA is a 4.7 year old Airbus A321neo that was delivered to the airline in October 2019.
Of the Airbus A321neo variant, Hawaiian Airlines has 18 of them in their fleet.
Furthermore, of that 18, all but one are in active service, with an average fleet age of 5.6 years.
As well as that aircraft type, the airline has the following aircraft in their fleet:
- 27 Airbus A330 Family aircraft.
- 19 Boeing 717 aircraft.
- 2 Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Hawaiian Airlines flight HA29, which overran the runway, departed Seattle at 1027 local time yesterday afternoon.
Everything was normal in the flight until it’s landing at 1412 local time.
The Aviation Herald reports that the aircraft came to a stop on “the paved surface of the runway end safety area about 100 meters/330 feet past the runway end”.
It is understood there were no injuries and no damage reported onboard the aircraft, and it was towed to the apron without further incident.
Aircraft Expected in Service Later Today…
As mentioned, with there being no damage, the aircraft is expected in service later on today.
The Hawaiian Airlines Airbus A321neo, originally from Seattle, is expected to leave Kahului later on via a positioning flight to Honolulu.
As per RadarBox, and is subject to change, the aircraft was scheduled to operate the following flights over the next 48 hours:
- HA20 – Honolulu to Sacramento.
- HA19 – Sacramento to Honolulu.
- HA70 – Honolulu to Long Beach
- HA69 – Long Beach to Honolulu
However, this aircraft may be assigned to other routes if there are delays and cancellations in place caused by the incident.
