On May 30, 2024, Finnair has returned to Nagoya, Japan, with the Finnish flag carrier restarting services there.
This article will cover the details surrounding Finnair’s return to Nagoya in Japan since the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Finnair Back in Nagoya
Since the Covid-19 Pandemic, Finnair has not served Nagoya, Japan, until now. As of May 30, 2024, the carrier’s services to the Japanese city has restarted.
Flight AY79 departed Helsinki Vantaa Airport (HEL) at 12:15 a.m. and arrived into Nagoya Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) ay 6:29 p.m. after a 12 hour flight.
The return flight AY80 leaves Nagoya Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) at 10:50 p.m. and arrives back into Helsinki Vantaa Airport (HEL) at 5:55 a.m. after a near 13 hour flight.
This restarted service will be operated on a twice weekly basis. AY79 will depart on Thursday and Sunday, with AY80 returning on Monday and Friday.
Nagoya becomes the fourth destination in Finnair’s Japanese network alongside Osaka, Tokyo Haneda and Tokyo Narita.
The carrier will operate the route using their Airbus A350-900 fleet. The Finnish flag carrier currently has 17 of the type with two on backorder for an eventual total of 19.
Their A350-900s have a mixed seating configuration currently as the carrier is refitting their cabins. Nine have 43 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy and 211 Economy Class seats. Whereas the other eight have 30 Business Class, 26 Premium Economy and 265 Economy Class seats.
For their other long haul routes, Finnair also has eight Airbus A330-300s. For their domestic, short and medium haul routes, Finnair has the following –
- 12 ATR 72-500s with 68 or 72 seats.
- 12 Embraer E190s with 100 seats.
- 5 Airbus A319s with 138 seats.
- 10 Airbus A320s with 174 seats.
- 15 Airbus A321s with 209 seats.
