A Delta Air Lines Airbus A330-900 bound for London made a return to New York after fumes were detected in the cabin on 12 September 2024.
Delta flight DL3 and made a departure from New York JFK International Airport and was setting course when flight crew reported the presence of fumes in the cabin.

The climb was discontinued and flight crew donned oxygen masks as a precaution. The decision was then made to return to New York.
According to the online source Aviation Herald, medical assistance was requested for one of the passengers.
The flight expedited a return to the origin airport and made an overweight landing just under one hour after its initial departure.
No injuries were reported amongst the passenger and flight crew complement as a result of the incident.
Flight Details
Flight data shows that flight DL3 was bound for London Heathrow (LHR). The flight made an on-time departure out of New York (JFK) at 2158 local time.
The flight had then set course normally. The aircraft was passing through flight level FL250 (25,000 feet) when flight crew terminated the climb procedure.
A direct return was then conducted to New York (JFK). A replacement aircraft was mustered by the airline to complete the scheduled service to London Heathrow.
The aircraft conducting the DL3 long haul service was an Airbus A330-900, registered N404DX. this is a 5-year-old wide-body aircraft belonging to the carrier Delta Air Lines.
It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery in September 2019.
