In a related development, the Supreme Court dismissed petitions from unsuccessful NEET-UG 2024 candidates seeking to cancel and re-test the exam, ruling that there was no “systemic breach” that could invalidate the test. The verdict has provided relief to the NTA and the NDA government, which have been under scrutiny for alleged malpractices such as question paper leaks, fraud, and impersonation in the May 5 test.

The NTA had assured earlier that the third edition of CUET-UG would be completed in seven days and emphasized that there would be no normalization of scores since the exams were conducted in a single shift. The exam format included both pen-paper mode for 15 subjects and Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for 48 subjects. This year, over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for the test, aiming for undergraduate admissions in 261 universities, including central, state, deemed, and private institutions.

The first edition of the CUET-UG exam in 2022 was beset by technical difficulties. Because tests for certain subjects were held over multiple shifts, score normalization was necessary during the results announcement.
