Ryanair continued to make significant expansion announcements, with it’s bases in Pisa, Palma, Menorca & Ibiza also getting the same treatment.
As the Summer 2024 comes near, the airline is making significant preparations for growth in passenger traffic.

Growth Plans for Ryanair in Pisa, Palma, Menorca & Ibiza…
Ryanair have laid out their plans for Summer expansion out of Pisa, Palma de Mallorca & Ibiza.
Pisa…
For their Pisa operations, Ryanair will have five new routes, and one additional aircraft based at the airport.
The five new routes are as follows:
- Kaunas
- Porto
- Tirana
- Oslo-Torp
- Zagreb
For the Summer season, Ryanair will have 57 routes on offer, which is forecasted to bring in 2.8m passengers, a 13% increase.
Furthermore, this means that the airline will have around 570 weekly flights on offer from Pisa.
Palma de Mallorca…
Palma de Mallorca is another popular base for Ryanair, with it coming as no surprise that expansion is happening again.
One additional aircraft will be based at the airport, taking the total count to 16.
Three new routes will be placed on sale, being:
- Exeter
- London Luton
- Zagreb
Furthermore, 85 routes will be offered from Palma de Mallorca, with traffic expected to grow to 7.2m passengers, a nine per cent increase.
Ibiza…
Ibiza will see one based aircraft at the airport, with the addition of Porto as a new route.
This means that 34 routes will be on offer for passengers from the airport.
Furthermore, in terms of traffic growth, Ryanair expects to handle 2.2m passengers, a 13% increase for Summer 2024.
This will help support more than 1,700 jobs.
Menorca…
Finally, Menorca will see a total of 20 routes on offer, with Ryanair disclosing four new routes.
One more aircraft will be based at the airport, bringing the overall count to 17, a $1.7bn investment.
With this in mind, the airline expects passenger traffic to grow by 24% to around 900,000 passengers.
Such growth plans is expected to support more than 8,200 jobs through the popularity of low-cost fares.
You can see clearly how important of a market the Balearic Islands are to Ryanair.
Busy Times for the Airline…
Times are very busy for Ryanair, who continue to put out multiple announcements every week regarding routes.
Just this week, as well as the service expansions into Pisa, Ibiza, Palma & Menorca, we have seen the following:
It highlights exactly that Ryanair aim to achieve maximum growth wherever possible.
However, they do have challenges to contend with.
They are expecting capacity constraints by the end of June 2024.
This is due to delays to deliveries of their Boeing 737 MAX 8200 aircraft, where only 40 of the 57 will be received.
Furthermore, despite this, they are managing to make things work significantly well.
Overall…
It remains clear that we will see plenty more of announcements from Ryanair in the weeks ahead.
Route expansion continues to be a priority for the Irish low-cost carrier in order to take advantage of upcoming busy demand.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on the overall performance throughout the Summer 2024 season, a busy period for them.
