In a move towards fleet modernization and expansion, Royal Jordanian (RJ) has welcomed the first two Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Bin Al-Hussein.
With plans to incorporate a total of eight such advanced aircraft into its fleet, RJ aims to enhance its services on short- and medium-range routes.
Behind the Fleet Upgrade
During a tour of the newly acquired aircraft, RJ’s Vice Chairman/CEO, Samer Majali, highlighted the pivotal role these modern jets will play in RJ’s growth strategy for the Levant region. The arrival of the two Embraer E-Jets also marks a first for the region.
“We’re looking forward to becoming the first E2 operator in the Middle East, supported by our trusted partners at Azorra,” said Samer Majali.
“The E2 family of aircraft will support our strategic aims, complementing our larger narrow body aircraft by matching capacity to demand, reducing operating costs and carbon emissions, while delivering a significant upgrade to passenger experience and comfort; underlining our status as the preferred airline in the region.”
With a focus on increasing frequencies to existing markets, RJ aims to meet the evolving demands of travelers while ensuring operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
As RJ celebrates its 60th anniversary, the introduction of the Embraer 195 and 190-E2 regional aircraft marks a new era of modernity and expansion for the airline.
Alongside narrow-body A320 neo and wide-body Boeing 787-9 aircraft, RJ’s fleet will undergo significant transformation, enabling the airline to expand its route network and connect with more destinations worldwide.
Optimism Amidst Challenges
Despite the prevailing regional challenges, Samer Majali remains optimistic about RJ’s future prospects.
With a strategic focus on profitability and sustainability, RJ is poised to navigate through uncertainties and emerge stronger in the aviation industry.
Embraer’s E2 series was selected by RJ following rigorous feasibility studies, aligning with the airline’s financial objectives and network strategy.
Not only do these aircraft offer operational efficiency and fuel savings, but they also streamline pilot training, spare parts provisioning, crew scheduling, and maintenance processes, ultimately reducing overall costs.
Refreshed Identity: RJ’s Livery
In tandem with its fleet modernization efforts, RJ has unveiled a refreshed livery, reflecting a blend of modernity and tradition.
While retaining its core identity, the new livery introduces contemporary design elements, signaling a fresh chapter in RJ’s journey.
Promoting Jordanian Heritage
True to its commitment to promoting Jordan as a tourist destination, RJ continues its tradition of naming aircraft after Jordanian cities.
The latest additions, bearing the names of Ramtha and Ma’an, serve as flying ambassadors, showcasing Jordan’s rich cultural heritage to the world.
