Starting February 2026, QantasLink will enhance its Sunshine Coast routes by introducing state-of-the-art Airbus A220 aircraft on flights to Sydney and Melbourne.
The newer single-aisle aircraft will replace the older Boeing 737s, offering travellers a superior experience with improved comfort, efficiency, and reliability.
The Airbus A220 has quickly become a passenger favourite, earning the highest customer satisfaction ratings among Qantas’ domestic fleet in recent months.

A220 Deployment to Sunshine Coast
To accommodate this transition, QantasLink has adjusted schedules for a small number of flights between these destinations.
As part of a major fleet renewal program, QantasLink is integrating 29 A220 aircraft and transitioning to a unified fleet of Q400 turboprops.
This initiative aims to boost reliability, reduce per-seat emissions, and ensure exceptional service for customers. So far, Qantas has received six A220s, with seven more expected this financial year.
The A220 offers a range of passenger-friendly features. Its David Caon-designed interiors include custom leather seats with extra pitch and width for added comfort.
Overhead compartments provide ample space for carry-on luggage, while ambient LED lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere. The aircraft is notably quieter than its predecessors, enhancing the inflight experience.
Additionally, it offers fast, free Wi-Fi, keeping passengers connected. From an environmental perspective, the A220 reduces noise and fuel emissions, producing up to 25% fewer carbon emissions than older models.
