Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) and T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) have joined forces to offer free unlimited WiFi to all Southwest Rapid Rewards® Members starting October 24, 2025.
This first-of-its-kind partnership between the two customer-focused brands aims to keep travelers connected at no extra cost on every Southwest flight.
With over 800 aircraft, Southwest will become the largest U.S. airline to provide free WiFi across its entire fleet this year, setting a new standard in the industry.
Free WiFi for Rapid Rewards Members
Southwest’s Rapid Rewards Members, regardless of their wireless provider, will enjoy free WiFi throughout their flights. Customers can sign up for a free Rapid Rewards account prior to their flight or while inflight to receive free WiFi.
Tony Roach, Southwest’s Executive Vice President and Chief Customer & Brand Officer, emphasized the airline’s dedication to customer satisfaction. “Our goal is to ensure travelers have an outstanding experience from booking to landing,” Roach said.
“Partnering with T-Mobile to offer free WiFi is a major step in enhancing our in-flight experience. It’s just one of many upgrades we’re rolling out to make flying with Southwest even better.”

T-Mobile and In-Flight Connectivity
T-Mobile brings its expertise in connectivity to the partnership, building on its history of providing free in-flight WiFi to its customers since 2014.
Mike Katz, T-Mobile’s President of Marketing, Strategy, and Products, highlighted the collaboration’s impact.
“We’re thrilled to team up with Southwest to make staying connected in the air effortless for millions of travelers,” Katz said.
“Rapid Rewards Members will enjoy free WiFi from takeoff to landing, with no hidden fees or complications—just seamless travel.”
This partnership aligns with T-Mobile’s mission to enhance customer experiences and expands its leadership in in-flight connectivity.
By combining forces with Southwest, T-Mobile ensures more travelers can stay connected without added costs.

The Move to Free In-Flight WiFi
The move to offer free WiFi reflects a broader trend in the airline industry. Carriers are increasingly recognizing the importance of connectivity for today’s travelers.
In-flight WiFi, once a premium service, is becoming a standard expectation. Airlines like Delta, JetBlue, and Alaska have already introduced free WiFi on select flights, with plans to expand fleetwide.
This shift is driven by customer demand for seamless access to streaming, messaging, and browsing while traveling.
Free WiFi not only enhances the passenger experience but also helps airlines stand out in a competitive market. By removing the cost barrier, carriers are making air travel more enjoyable and convenient, appealing to both leisure and business travelers.

Southwest Rollout of WiFi
Southwest has been testing free fleetwide WiFi for Rapid Rewards Members, with early results showing high customer satisfaction.
The airline is investing heavily to ensure a reliable and high-performing WiFi experience. By partnering with T-Mobile, Southwest aims to deliver a seamless connection that meets the needs of modern travelers.
This collaboration is part of Southwest’s broader strategy to elevate the in-flight experience. From enhanced cabin amenities to improved connectivity, the airline is focused on making every journey enjoyable.
As Southwest continues to roll out upgrades, free WiFi is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter for its customers.
Looking Ahead
The Southwest and T-Mobile partnership marks a significant milestone in making air travel more connected and customer-friendly.
By offering free WiFi to Rapid Rewards Members, Southwest is now making the move to what has become a new standard for in-flight experience.
