CDB Aviation: 7 Aircraft to Turkish Airlines

Last week saw CDB Aviation announce a new lease agreement with Türkiye flag carrier Turkish Airlines for seven aircraft.

This article will cover the details surrounding CDB Aviation’s latest lease agreement with Turkish Airlines and the aircraft in question under this new agreement.

CDB Aviation & Turkish Airlines New Lease Agreement

CDB Aviation, an Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing has announced a new lease agreement with Turkish Airlines. This lease agreement will consist of the expansion of seven aircraft. Bringing their total current leased between the two companies to 17 aircraft.

This latest agreement consists of firstly, one used Airbus A330-300 and secondly, six new Boeing 737 MAX 8s. The one Airbus A330-300 will be delivered to Turkish Airlines in May 2024, and is set to help bolster its international operations.

However, the six Boeing 737 MAX 8s will be delivered between 2025 and 2026. They are set to be operated by the carrier’s subsidiary, Ajet, previously known as AnadoluJet. These six MAX 8s will be powered by CFM International LEAP-1B engines and will be from CDB Aviation’s existing Boeing orderbook.

Finally, the total of 17 aircraft now are as follows –

• 12 Boeing 737 MAX 8s
• One Boeing 737-800 Next Generation
• One Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range)
• One Airbus A321neo
• One Airbus A320neo
• One Airbus A330-300

Firstly, commenting on their latest agreement with Turkish Airlines, Jie Chen, CDB Aviation’s Chief Executive Officer, says, “We are delighted to continue building upon a strong and long-term partnership with our valued customer, Turkish Airlines.”

“The 737 MAX 8 aircraft will contribute toward the airline’s stated goal for Ajet to become an important part of the low-cost aviation industry on a global scale, while the A330 will provide the increased capacity to support its ever-expanding global network.”

Secondly, adding to Chen’s comments, Turkish Airlines’ Chief Investment and Strategy Officer, Levent Konukcu, says, “As the airline that flies to more countries than any other with 130 countries, Turkish Airlines continues to strengthen its worldwide success story.”

“In order to contribute to this stunning expansion performance, we evaluate all possible options to feed our fleet. Along with the previous ones, we are glad to collaborate with CDB Aviation for these effective agreements again.”
