While this was the highest among the 11 countries covered in the survey, as much as 95% of them expressed confidence in their ability to adapt to the likely changes, according to a report based on the findings.
The online survey by YouGov on behalf of job matching and hiring platform Indeed received 16,671 responses. The respondents comprised 9,592 employees, 4,592 employers or managers and 2,487 HR decision-makers, according to the report, titled ‘Tomorrow’s World: The Workplace and Workforce of the Future’.
With three-fourths of respondents expressing confidence in the transformative potential of technological advancements, such as artificial intelligence, the zeal of Indians far outweighed those of nationals of other countries such as France (42%), Canada (42%) and Germany (41%), it said.
Sashi Kumar, head of sales at Indeed India, said: “India is at the forefront of embracing the future of work, driven by a profound belief in the power of technological innovation.”
Indians were, however, nearly evenly split on the impact of robotics and AI on jobs in their country: 44% expected such advancements to create more job opportunities, but 41% believed more jobs would be lost as a result.With 53% having up-skilled to develop longer-term skills and learning in the last three years, employees in India have displayed a proactive stance towards career learning and development to adapt to future shifts in the workplace, the report said.Two-thirds of Indian workers (67%), the highest among the nations surveyed, said they have regular training opportunities.
The survey findings paint a positive picture when it comes to the diversity, equity and belonging (DEIB) policies in India. Indian companies are almost twice as likely to have a diversity and inclusion lead than in the Netherlands and the UK, where only 35% have one, and in Germany (30%).
Similarly, three in five Indian firms provide training over unconscious bias, an initiative vastly lacking across countries in Europe.
Respondents in India also envision a brighter future when it comes to AI’s impact on DEIB.
