Qantas has exciting news for South Australians, with new direct flights from Adelaide to Auckland to launch in October 2025. The marks the national airline’s return to non-stop international services from South Australia.
Alongside this, Qantas is opening its first Domestic Business Lounge at Adelaide Airport, elevating the travel experience for local customers.
Adelaide-Auckland Route
The seasonal Adelaide-Auckland route, now open for booking, will add over 30,000 seats between the two cities. This boost in capacity is set to drive tourism to South Australia, welcoming more visitors to explore the state’s vibrant offerings.
The route also connects South Australians to Qantas’ international network, including seamless one-stop flights to New York via Auckland on the popular QF3 service.
Qantas Group CEO International, Cam Wallace, called it a landmark day for both the airline and South Australia. “We’re thrilled to launch direct international flights from Adelaide to Auckland and open our first Qantas Business Lounge here,” Wallace said.
“This gives our South Australian customers more travel options, including easy connections to North America, and a premium lounge experience designed with their feedback in mind.”
New Domestic Business Lounge
The new Domestic Business Lounge celebrates South Australia’s rich culture and produce. Designed in collaboration with Architectus, it draws inspiration from the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, Adelaide Central Markets, and Kangaroo Island’s Flinders Chase National Park.
The lounge features a market-style kitchen, offering dishes crafted by Qantas Creative Director of Food, Beverage, and Service, Neil Perry.
These are available alongside lighter snacks by South Australian icon Maggie Beer. This marks the final stage of Qantas’ new Adelaide Lounge precinct. It forms part of the airline’s global effort to enhance its lounge network.

Industry Perspectives
South Australia’s Premier, Peter Malinauskas, welcomed the announcement. “Qantas’ new direct flight to Auckland is fantastic news,” he said. “New Zealand is Australia’s closest ally, and this route strengthens our ties.”
